* International Criminal Court - Rome Statue [ English ][ Arabic ][ French ]

The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court was established on 17 July 1998, when 120 States participating in the "United Nations Diplomatic Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court" adopted the Statute. The Statute entered into force on 1 July 2002. Anyone who commits any of the crimes under the Statute after this date will be liable for prosecution by the Court.

* Judicial Independence - First Arab Justice Conference - Beirut Declaration for Justice [ English ][ Arabic ]

The Declaration had seven main points calling for the independence of the Arab judiciary, the election and or appointment of judges to be free of discrimination, provision of judges with appropriate training, adoption of the system of judicial review on the constitutionality of laws, ensuring the rights of the defense and a fair trial, removing any discrimination against women in the judiciary and call for the support of the International Criminal Court. The conference was organized by Arab Centre for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession and held in Beirut on June 14-16, 1999.
